Case Study
Alive and Kicking

I started volunteering with award-winning charity, Alive and Kicking, in 2015. I am now a core member of the team and have been working in-house for the last 8 years. Given Alive and Kicking's limited budgets I have been solely responsible for delivering high quality content and assets in brand style, over the years. As a result, I have travelled to Ghana, Kenya and Zambia to film, photograph and train staff members and beneficiaries. I have produced a huge quantity of digital assets, print, images and web pages for the charity; elevating the charity's image and standing beyond its constrained resources.

Print work for the charity includes posters and flyers for events and campaigns, flags and banners for fundraising tournaments and essential collateral for partnerships and collaborations.

A truly unique element of my work at Alive and Kicking is the ball designs I undertake on an often weekly basis. These designs may be for a new product in Alive and Kicking's range (such as the giraffe and rugby ball), collaborations with high-profile footballers such as Vivianne Miedema for Stonewall's Rainbow Laces 10th anniversary, or corporate partnerships creating balls for events and promotion (for example, London Football Awards).

During my travels with Alive and Kicking I have had ample opportunity to hone my photography skills. Photographing grassroots sport in Africa presents its own unique challenges, requiring patience, preparation and an excellent eye for capturing unique, moving moments that tell their own stories.

Some of the most significant and impactful pieces of work I've made for Alive and Kicking are campaign and informative videos that demonstrate the impact of the organisation, and help to sell the products that sustain their charitable income. Filming in Africa presents particular challenges, with confidence and language barriers to break as well as hot, dry and dusty conditions that test energy, focus and patience.
